With 100 (cento in Italian) lire, you can go to
America, or so an old Italian song goes. Accordingly, Tuscan-born
restaurateur Pino Luongo (also of Tuscan Square) opened Centolire in
2001 to honor those Italians who, like himself, came to America to
start a new life. Two dining spaces present different options: the
more cozy and quiet downstairs room or the larger, more colorful
upstairs area, accessed via a glass elevator. At lunch, Centolire
proposes a three-course menu of appealing Italian fare at a price you
just can’t refuse. Dinner brings a range of well-prepared entrees from
tender osso buco to Tuscan fish stew brimming with shrimp, clams,
mussels, calamari and the fresh fish of the day. Before you leave,
check out the cookbooks by Pino, which are displayed near the
entrance. “
